It *is* what it looks like

There's this hotel close to my house called the Schengen. It has the most unusual sculpture out front.

Every time I drive by it I think, "That can't be what it looks like..."

The other day I had the chance to go inside the hotel and if I had any doubt about the sculpture out front, the lobby decor makes everything perfectly clear.

---------------

Post Script: After seeing this post my Mom sent the following mail to the Schengen Hotel: "As an artist I'm interested in the sculpture outside your hotel and in the lobby. Could you tell me the name of the artist? I would like to know what his/her vision is for his/her work. I also would like his/her name, address and social security number."

As always, dear Readers, I'll keep you posted.

I was struggling to find a word to describe the statue Tanya. "Interesting" is a great one! :)

"Interesting" just about sums it up. Of all the amazing places to took me to in Beijing, Mel, I can't believe we missed this one!

OMG! 'Interesting' is probably the best description of this sculpture.

It really made me laugh though!

Pat how could I have taken you to the Great Wall and the Forbidden City but forgotten the awful Boob Statue? My bad.

Sarah "interesting" seems to be the best word any of us can come up with. :) By the way they repaint it every few months and even my 7-year-old son says the new paint never makes it look better. But when they change colors next time I'll be sure to post an update. We'll see what adjectives we can come up with then.

Wow. Well, it certainly leads to discussion, which is what sculptors aim for, right?

I posted updated info on my boots, thanks for stopping by my blog!

OK, I get the boobs. It's the interior that is more puzzling - tongues? Something more lewd?

i18n G.A.L. - yes, tongues. Gross, so gross.

Nicole - thanks for the boot update. Born Concepts, huh? I do love Born, didn't know about their Concepts line. I'm off to google it now.

Oh goodness, somehow I can't imagine that sculpture on the streets of the US.

Yep, I think someone would have sued by now in the U.S. for psychological damage.
